The Comité du Débarquement has been commemorating
the landings since 1945 in order to pay tribute to the Allied
soldiers who fought on June 6th. The Committee endeavours
to ensure the preparation and provide funds for the ceremonies.
Such ceremonies, called "Remembrance ceremonies"
by the 1947 Law, are national ceremonies.
The French Prime Minister is responsible for the organization
but often decides to let the Landing Committee deal with it.
The French Government is always
represented, in particular by the Army, Air Force and Navy.
